The chemistry involved with sake and the different tastes was something I had no clue about and was quite surprising and cool. It was both informative and a treat for my senses. We tasted 3 different Sake's at the museum, then headed to another location for a more extensive tasting and discussion.

Mayo had cheat sheets and tasting notes prepared, so we really got to understand the flavor profiles of different types of Sake. All together we sampled 10 different Sake's and even had a few food pairings.

Mayo was an excellent guide and we truly learned more than we ever thought we would know about Sake.

Not only did we go through a bit of history of... read more one of the most important and successful sake producing companies in Japan, we also learned a great deal about the process itself, how it changed, and how it creates the drink we know and love. It also taught me a lot about the different types and sub-types of sake, something that helped me pin down some of my personal favourites.

Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who is even mildly interested in sake!
