We also had the chance to sample different sakes (or nihonshu as we now know to call it ), each showcasing the craftsmanship of different sake styles. Overall, it was an outstanding tour that offered a perfect blend of education and enjoyment.

  Amazing educational experience - and also fun!  - We had an amazing morning with Momoko, Miyuki and Greg. First Momoko led us on a private tour through a brewery with traditional equipment to teach us the process of... read more making sake. We learned about Kyoto’s unique location and how the water influences the taste of sake. We then did a warmup guided tasting of 3 sakes by the same producer. Next was a quick walk to a dedicated tasting room where Miyuki and Greg gave us a very thorough guided tasting and food pairing with 10 more sakes! Miyuki had interesting comparisons and contrasts set up for us. I knew almost nothing about Japanese sake 3 hours ago and now I am ready for advanced class!

  Amazing  - Got to try a variety of different sake from Japan. Our hostess Momoko was very kind and explained the sake making process well. Ended up buying 4 bottles, very happy!

  If you love Sake, do this!  - Greg is friendly, informative and a genuine lover of Sake which made our experience even better. He’s also an Aussie so my husband and I felt very comfortable.
