Around November, you can see the most beautiful sight of Kyoto. All the Japanese maple will turn into yellow and red. This beautiful sight will be illuminated during this autumn leaves season. Here we introduce one of the spots in Kyoto you cannot miss especially during autumn leave season.
Toji Temple
The Heian period was preceded by the Nara period and began in 794 CE after the movement of the capital of Japan to Heian-kyō (present-day Kyōto), by the 50th emperor, Emperor Kanmu. Toji is the only temple that remains from Heian-kyo. There is a large stroll garden with pond called “hyoutan-ike”. Also Toji has the highest five-storied pagoda in Japan. The sight of the coloredleaves and the five-storied pagoda will be reflected in the pond. It is truly beautiful especially when there is night time light up is held during the autumn leaves season.
